Deep moisture pooled along the boundary, with precipitable water values near 2 inches, supporting efficient rainfall and repeated rounds of thunderstorms. During the afternoon, stronger storms reached the New Orleans metropolitan area, lower Mississippi River parishes, and adjacent coastal waters, producing severe wind gusts.
