The wider storm

A frontal boundary south of Interstate 10 in Louisiana slowed and stalled near the coast while successive midlevel disturbances crossed the Lower Mississippi Valley. Deep moisture pooled along the boundary, with precipitable water values near 2 inches, supporting efficient rainfall and thunderstorms that produced large hail and damaging winds in southwest Mississippi.

Began near Hillsdale (30.8800, -89.3500).
