The wider storm

A strong surface low deepened as it moved through North Dakota, leading to high non-thunderstorm wind gusts. By the early afternoon, the strong winds were producing blowing dust and significantly reduced visibility across western North Dakota, with a Blowing Dust Warning and Blowing Dust Advisory issued for much of western and central North Dakota. Visibility was under one quarter of a mile at times. The strongest wind gust reported was 76 mph near Crosby in Divide County.
