The wider storm

A weak wave in northwest flow aloft enhanced the low-level jet into southeast South Dakota with moisture and better deep-layer shear arriving by late day near a weak frontal boundary. With mixed-layer instability from 1500-2200 J/kg and marginally supportive deep layer shear of 40-45 kts, isolated supercells developed with mainly hail from stronger cells up to 2 inches in diameter.

Began near Flandreau (44.0500, -96.6000).
