Flooded roads in Long Beach. Flooding was up to 6 inches deep.
The wider storm
A weak upper level system combined with a stalled frontal boundary extending over portions of southeast Louisiana and coastal Mississippi to produce a period of training thunderstorms over parts of Harrison, Hancock, and Pearl River Counties in coastal Mississippi. Very high moisture content in the atmosphere and warm air in the mid and upper levels allowed for very high rainfall rates to accompany these training thunderstorms resulting in flash flooding.
Began near Long Beach (30.3505, -89.1606).
