Flash Flood in Pearl River County, Mississippi

Flash Flood June 16, 2026 · Pearl River County, Mississippi

Where the report was made, with tornadoes recorded within 15 miles over the years.

What the National Weather Service wrote

Water at least 1 foot deep on the I-59 interstate exit at Sycamore Road.

The wider storm

A weather pattern in the upper atmosphere favored the development of showers and thunderstorms across the local area. At the surface, a stalled frontal boundary stretched from west to east near the I-10 corridor and provided a focus for repeated thunderstorm development. Thunderstorms repeatedly developed and moved over the same areas along the boundary, producing very heavy rainfall across portions of coastal Mississippi over the two-day period and resulting in flash flooding.

Began near Richardson (30.5400, -89.6500).
