A gust of 47 mph was recorded by a personal weather station on the shore of Chequamegon Bay about 5 miles northeast of Ashland.

On June 29th, 2026, severe weather fueled by record humidity and high temperatures impacted western Lake Superior. Two waves of storms swept through the area, producing damaging wind gusts as high as 57 mph along the South Shore of Lake Superior during the afternoon round of storms.
