The wider storm

With the terminus of the transport near the mid-James River Valley, isolated storms developed by very late afternoon with strong updrafts and large hail up to ping-pong ball size. A more linear system developed along the dry line in central South Dakota during the early evening and produced damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph near and south of Interstate 90.
