The wider storm
Scattered late morning and early afternoon hour showers and thunderstorms continued to exhibit upscale growth into a broken line of strong-to-severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours of June 11, 2026. Environmental analysis during the late afternoon hours across central Pennsylvania exhibited ample instability (with SBCAPE values exceeding 3000 J/kg across the entire region), steep low-level lapse rates, and ample DCAPE values exceeding 1000 J/kg. While shear was not the most sufficient, ample instability allowed for storms to continue in a broken line as they shifted eastward across the region through the evening hours. Widespread wind damage was reported along the broken line of thunderstorms, with numerous trees down across much of the forecast area south of the Interstate 80 corridor. Across areas north of the Interstate 80 corridor, scattered instances of wind damage were reported, with the most widespread in Lycoming County.
Began near Curwensville (40.9700, -78.5300).
