The wider storm

Low pressure located over western Nebraska featured a northward progressing warm front that extended as far as the Minnesota and Iowa border. On June 7th, 2026, this warm front proceeded into southern Minnesota which produced tropical-like precipitable water values exceeding 1.75 inches and dew points near 70 degrees. With sufficient instability in place, storms developed in the wake of the passing warm front. Very heavy rainfall rates between 1.75 to 2.0 inches per hour produced localized flooding in Steele County. Two intersections were closed by law enforcement due to the flooding, and another rural intersection one mile south of Steele Center (CR-45 and 88th St) was closed due to moving water over the road.

Began near Blooming Prairie (43.8622, -93.0605).
