Event narrative

A total of 6 inches of snow was observed at Noatak between 8 am on the 26th and 8 am on the 27th. An additional 3.5 inches of snow was observed between 8 am on the 27th and 8 am on the 28th.

Wider weather episode

A frontal boundary that extended south along the Chukchi Sea coast produced heavy snowfall in parts of the Noatak Valley from late on the morning of the 26th into the evening of the 27th. Noatak observed 6 inches of snow on the 26th, with an additional 3.5 inches of snow on the 27th. In addition, a southeast wind of 15 to 30 mph produced areas of blowing and drifting snow.
