Drought in Phillips, Arkansas

Drought June 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026 · Phillips, Arkansas

What the National Weather Service wrote

D3 Extreme Drought persisted across the county, but shrunk geographically and was confined to the extreme southwest corner by the end of the month. D2 Severe Drought Conditions improved and also shrunk geographically and were also confined to the southwest corner while D1 Moderate Drought and D0 Abnormally Dry conditions emerged by the end of the month.

The wider storm

June represented a month of limited drought improvement rather than drought elimination across northeast Arkansas. Beneficial rainfall provided some short-term relief and prevented further widespread deterioration, but the region remained entrenched in Exceptional Drought (D4) in its hardest-hit areas for nearly the entire month. Substantial and sustained rainfall would be needed to address the long-term precipitation deficits.
