Gustav moved south and west of the Alabama Coastal waters and brought high tide levels to the area. Due to high tides and heavy rainfall, Bayou Sara in Saraland rose to 9.3 feet, which is its 2ec highest height ever. Fifty three residents had to be evacuated due to the high water. With the berm being washed away, the damage estimate for Mobile county caused by the surge was close to $4M. No deaths were reported.
