Despite nebulous synoptic forcing and modest instability, several supercell thunderstorms developed ahead of a weak surface cold front across southwestern Kansas into far northwestern Oklahoma during the evening hours of the 16th. One such thunderstorm produced large to very large hail in Harper County, Oklahoma before dissipating.
