The wider storm

A hot and humid air mass advected into eastern New York on June 11-12, 2026 ahead of an approaching low pressure system and cold front. Heat index values (feels like temperatures) reached the mid-90s to lower 100s across portions of the Hudson Valley into Washington County and the southern Taconics on one or both days.

In addition, isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms developed both days, mainly during the afternoon hours. Some of these storms produced some large hail along with downed trees and wires. The Town of Pawling was hardest hit on June 11 as an intense thunderstorm produced hail in excess of 2 inches in some areas and widespread tree damage.
