The wider storm

A slow moving cold front pushed into the Mid-South during the morning of June 22, 2026. A weak surface low pressure system tracked along the front and across the Mid-South as the front slowly moved across the area. Meanwhile, an upper level disturbance moving through the Lower Mississippi Valley helped to trigger widespread showers and thunderstorms along the front. Anomalously high precipitable water values of over 2 inches were pooled along the front resulting in heavy rainfall with some places reporting over 6 inches. Several areas experienced flash flooding.

Began near Olivehill (35.2300, -88.0000).
