Event narrative

A Butte Falls woman died early Wednesday 11/12/2008 when her minivan veered off Butte Falls Highway and struck a tree. Jackson County deputies identified the woman as Juanita Mae Moore, 66, of Broad Street.

A passing driver spotted the single-vehicle crash in the 11000 block of the highway leading to and from Butte Falls at 7:39 a.m.

Moore's 2003 Pontiac Montana had left the road and hit a tree about 150 feet from the pavement. The pavement was wet and a light fog blanketed the area of the crash.

The weather was probably a contributing factor, said Sheriff Mike Winters.
