Wind gusted to 81 mph at Red Canyon along South Pass. The Lander airport had a maximum wind gust of 66 mph.
The wider storm
An upper level shortwave moved over Wyoming, accompanied by a jet streak. The surface dew points remained low, resulting in large dew point depressions. The result was many severe thunderstorms that produced wind gusts in excess of 58 mph.
