The wider storm

A stationary front extended along the Red River Valley of Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and into extreme Southwest Arkansas and North Louisiana during the morning hours of June 23rd, which focused areas of repeated showers and thunderstorms as an upper level disturbance shifted east-southeast atop the front. A very warm and moist air mass resided near and south of the front, which contributed to increased storm intensity and rain rates with areas of heavy rainfall falling over extreme Northeast Texas and North Louisiana during the morning. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2-10+ inches fell over portions of North Louisiana during the morning, contributing to areas of flash flooding. Isolated severe thunderstorms also developed over these areas during the evening through the morning hours on the 24th, with renewed flash flooding with additional rainfall amounts of 2-4+ inches falling. These storms also spawned an isolated tornado near Plain Dealing during the evening of the 23rd.

Began near Homer (32.8000, -93.0600).
