Drought in Mccurtain, Oklahoma

Drought June 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026 · Mccurtain, Oklahoma

The wider storm

Extreme (D3) drought continued across the southern half of McCurtain County Oklahoma through the first half of June, before tapering back to Severe (D2) drought as appreciable rainfall helped to ease drought conditions and impacts. June monthly rainfall totals ranged significantly from 5-10 inches across McCurtain County with isolated higher amounts in southern parts of the county, generally near and along the Red River where as much as a foot of rain fell. As a result, drought conditions continued to improve through the last half of the month as additional rain fell, although amounts were less than those that occurred earlier in June. Despite the improvement, all this rainfall was not enough to completely erode the severe drought in the southern half of the county, which persisted through the end of the month.
