The wider storm
A cluster of thunderstorms moved east through northern West Virginia on the periphery of an MCS diving through Kentucky in the early morning hours. Despite the unfavorable timing, weak MLCAPE values of 250-500 J/kg was enough when coupled with strong effective shear values of 50-70 knots beneath a seasonably very strong 90-100 knot mid-level jet to support sporadic wind damage in northern West Virginia.
Began near Ices Ferry (39.6630, -79.8519).
