The wider storm

A modest southwest flow aloft combined with a respectable pressure gradient to result in a few instances of strong wind gusts in and near the Madison Rive Valley June 6. Wind gusts of 58+ mph observed outside of the Madison River Valley were in mountain peaks of the Madison Range. Given these areas are naturally windy, these observations were omitted from this episode.
