What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

NWS Storm Survey confirms an EF-0 tornado with maximum wind of 80 mph.

The wider storm

A narrow warm sector along and south of a nearly stationary boundary saw showers and thunderstorms develop in the afternoon hours. Training along the boundary mostly resulted in a flash flooding threat, though moisture pooling ahead of the front supported MLCAPE values reaching 1000 J/kg, and 30-40 knots of effective shear supported some storm organization for a damaging wind and embedded tornado threat with locally backed surface wind.

Began near Hopewell (39.4799, -80.0648).
