The wider storm

Strong to severe thunderstorms developed along a cold front that moved into northeastern Oklahoma during the evening of the 11th. The atmosphere became very unstable during the late afternoon and evening ahead of these thunderstorms, and wind shear increased as an upper level disturbance approached the region. As a result, the strongest thunderstorms produced severe weather in the form of damaging wind. Locally heavy rainfall also resulted in isolated flash flooding.

Began near Peggs (36.1049, -95.1118).
