Drought in Hempstead, Arkansas
Drought June 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026 · Hempstead, Arkansas
The wider storm
Isolated Extreme (D3) to widespread Severe (D2) drought continued across Southwest Arkansas through the first half of June, before tapering back to Severe (D2) drought as appreciable rainfall helped to ease drought conditions. June monthly rainfall totals ranged significantly from 5-10 inches across Southwest Arkansas with isolated lesser amounts in parts of Union County, generally near and northeast of El Dorado. As a result, drought conditions continued to improve throughout the month with the additional rainfall. Despite the improvement, all of this rainfall was not enough to completely erode the severe drought across the vast majority of Southwest Arkansas, which persisted through the end of the month.
