The wider storm
An upper level disturbance moved into a hot and humid environment triggering a line of heavy showers and thunderstorms across Northeast Pennsylvania during the early evening on the 11th. As this line moved over the Wyoming Valley, its eastward progress began to slow, allowing for multiple rounds of heavy rain to move over the downtown Scranton area between 8 and 9 PM EDT followed by additional light to moderate rainfall which ended during the late evening. The intense rainfall occurring in a short period of time in the urban area led to multiple roads closing from or experiencing flash flooding.
Began near Scranton (41.4034, -75.6621).
