Wildfire in Tooele and Rush Valleys, Utah
Wildfire June 26, 2026 – June 30, 2026 · Tooele and Rush Valleys, Utah
What the National Weather Service wrote
The Cherry Fire ignited around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, near Weiss Highway and Cherry Creek in Juab County, Utah. It subsequently merged with the nearby Maple Peak Fire, which had started the night before. Given exceptionally hot, dry, and windy conditions through much of its early life during a PDS Red Flag Warning day, it would go on to grow fast and rapidly through the next few days while exhibiting extreme fire behavior as it grew across portions of Juab, Utah, and Tooele counties (encompassing portions of public zones 101, 102, and 115) eventually reaching the ongoing Iron fire. Thankfully, no structures were harmed with no reported injuries or fatalities. This fire has been contained as of July 9, 2026 and reached a total of 34,252 acres.
