Severe thunderstorms dropped hail the size of quarters on Great Pond in the Belgrade Lakes Region.
The wider storm
On June 28th a weak upper level shortwave interacted with modest shear and CAPE to create enough energy to trigger a few isolated thunderstorms. One area of storms across central Maine, grew stronger enough for isolated severe hail and wind gusts.
Began near Belgrade (44.4900, -69.8400).
