A deep low far north of the area generated surf of 12 to 18 feet along the north-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Maui; and 8 to 12 feet along the west-facing shores of Niihau and Kauai.

Three individuals died as a direct result from the high surf. Two females, ages 33 and 38, were swept out to sea when a large wave struck a rocky shoreline at Queen's Bath on the north shore of Kauai in the afternoon of the 12th. A male drowned while swimming at Hanakapiai Beach on Kauai's north shore in the morning of the 13th. There were no other reports of serious injuries or property damage resulting from the high surf episode.
