Heat in Inland Kenedy County, Texas

Heat June 19, 2026 · Inland Kenedy County, Texas

What the National Weather Service wrote

The final day of a trifecta of dangerous heat afternoons saw the Automated Weather Observing System sensor at Kingsville NAS (17 miles north of the county line in Kleberg), as well as proxy observations with Brooks Co. Airport, suggested that heat index values ranged from 111 to 115 during the afternoon in Inland Kenedy County, with a few locations potentially exceeding 116 for an hour or so based on the proximity to Brooks Co. Airport.

The wider storm

As developing Tropical Storm Arthur moved along the middle Texas coast (June 17) and as a degenerated low pressure system along the Louisiana Coast (June 18), very hot air descended on the southern tip of Texas, with record extreme heat index, or feels-like, temperatures for the entire region on the 18th. The high heat index values held on into June 19th, before unsettled weather brought slightly lower temperatures and pockets of rain by the 20th, which ended the short but brutal window of extreme heat.
