With an upper trough just to the west, dynamics and kinematics were favorable for thunderstorm development. The 00z sounding that afternoon revealed a precipitable water value of 0.96 inches, well above the 90th percentile value of 0.83 inches. With high moisture values, heavy rain was a threat with any storms that developed.
