The Piute wildfire, in the Sequoia National Forest, was ignited on June 28 at 1359 PST by unknown causes. The location was 8 miles North of Twin Oaks in Kern County. The size was 37,026 acres. The fire was contained on July 25. There were no fatalities. 51 structures were lost to the wildfire, 45 of those being outbuildings. Damages were estimated at $5M. The cost to containment was $25M.
