Event narrative

Fourteen Buffalo High School students were injured from a large tree limb falling to the ground. This tree limb fell due to lightning striking the tree. All of the injuries from the students were minor.

Wider weather episode

A few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms impacted southern Missouri the morning of Halloween. Mainly small hail and frequent lightning was observed with these storms. One storm impacted 14 students at Buffalo High School. A lightning strike knocked down a large tree limb which fell on the students causing minor injuries.
