Event narrative

A 51 year old man from Dunkirk was killed in a rollover accident as his Dodge Dakota hit an icy patch on a bridge on County Road 200 South, near County Road 800 West. The truck went over a guard rail, off the road, struck a tree, before continuing into a field, where it rolled and came to rest upright. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wider weather episode

A weak system brought light rain to the area. Temperatures hovered around freezing, allowing for some of the rain to freeze on roads and elevated surfaces. At least one accident resulted in a fatality in Jay County when a truck went over a guard rail on an overpass, flipped and came to rest upright.
