Event narrative

Light lake-enhanced snow combined with strong winds led to icy roads late December 16th into the first half of December 17th. Two people were killed and 2 others injured in a crash near the intersection of Cleveland Road and Nadine Street around 11:00 am December 17th. Police said a vehicle traveling eastbound on Cleveland lost control and crossed the center line into the path of a westbound SUV. The 46 year old male driver and his 86 year old female passenger were both killed. The two individuals in the SUV were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Light lake-enhanced snow fell December 16th into early December 17th. Snowfall amounts ranged from 1 to 3 inches. This led to icy road conditions and a fatal car crash early December 17th in South Bend.
