Event narrative
Strong wind gusts in excess of 50 mph caused considerable blowing and drifting snow which resulted in the closure of some roads around Cheyenne for a short time.
Wider weather episode
Strong winds blew across fresh powderlike snow cover and produced areas of blizzard conditions in the vicinity of the southeast Wyoming mountains. Many roads including parts of Interstates 80 and 25 were closed for extended periods of time due to blowing and drifting snow.
