A strong cold front moved across the Northeast during the early morning hours of December 25. Gusty northwest winds of 40 to 50 mph behind the front toppled a 40 foot tree onto a car traveling on the Garden State Parkway in Bloomfield, New Jersey, at approximately 0110EST. A 42-year-old man and 70-year-old woman were killed; and 13- and 8-year-old girls were injured in the car.
