Several waterspouts formed off the southeast tip of Bois Blanc Island.

An extremely deep and cold airmass over the Northern Great Lakes resulted in the development of several waterspouts, associated with lake effect snow showers. Waterspouts are highly unusual in the middle of winter, typically being much more common in early autumn.
