Event narrative
An overrunning snow event occurred with a low moving onshore the central Southeast Alaska panhandle the evening of the 26th. Hidden Falls coop on eastern Baranof Island reported 7.5 inches through 5 PM the 26th and an additional of 6 inches the following day. Storm total of 13.5 inches for the event.
Wider weather episode
A gale force low developed as it moved from the central Pacific Ocean across the central Gulf of Alaska, before moving over the central panhandle. Cold arctic air was entrenched across the inner channels of Southeast Alaska as the system was approaching, leading to a significant snowfall event for the southern panhandle.
