What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

An EF1 tornado began near the intersection of Primrose Lane and Heathermore in Colleyville. It tracked about a half mile to the northeast and was approximately 100 yards wide. At least 5 homes in the Caldwell Creek neighborhood sustained significant roof or structural damage and about 15 more homes sustained lesser damage. Maximum winds were estimated to be 90 MPH.

The wider storm

Severe thunderstorms along a dryline moved into the northwestern portions of north Texas during the early evening hours. A Pacific front overtook the dryline during the evening hours and a severe squall line moved through north Texas. Widespread wind damage and hail was common, and a few tornadoes also occurred in Montague and Tarrant counties.

Began near Grapevine S Lake Arp (32.9106, -97.1416).
