Wider weather episode
An elderly Hayward woman died of hypothermia. She left in her car from a friend's home at about 4:30 pm. She apparently became confused and made a wrong turn onto a long driveway that led to unoccupied seasonal cottages. Her vehicle became stuck when she attempted to turn around. She died of exposure while trying to free her vehicle from the snow. The temperature from 4 pm to 8 pm ranged from 30 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit with winds 5 to 10 mph. Her body was found a few days later.
