Bands of heavy snow moved across Central North Carolina blanketing the region with 2 to 8 inches of snow. Areas in the piedmont experienced the most snow fall with the Triad reporting up to 8 inches. The heavy snow was the result of a surface low pressure system tracking east out of the Ohio River Valley combining with cold air from the north.
