A vessel near the Calcasieu Locks on Big Lake measured a wind gust of 50 mph.

Wider weather episode

A squall line of severe thunderstorms developed across central Texas during the evening hours on 3/25/09, before moving rapidly eastward across Southeast Texas and Louisiana during the late evening hours on 3/25/09 and early morning hours of 3/26/09. Although most of these thunderstorms remained inland from the coast, a few reports of strong winds were received from the coastal lakes and bays.
