A strong low pressure moving from British Columbia to Montana tightened the pressure gradient east of the Cascades and produced high winds. Blowing dust closed some roads. Power lines and trees were blown down and roofs were damaged in some areas. Peak wind gusts in miles per hour included: 5 miles northeast of Sisters (75), 3 miles north of Sisters (70), Pendleton Airport (62), Helix (61), Pendleton (73), 5 miles west northwest of Ruggs (63), Shaniko (61), 12 miles south southwest of Pine Grove (61), 8 miles north northwest of Clarno (65).
