A car traveling on U.S. Highway 278 a few miles east of Warren left the highway around 4:30 AM CDT. The car went airborne, landing in flood waters from Flat Branch Creek and the Saline River. The passenger in the car drowned. This is an indirect fatality since the initial event was the auto accident.

Heavy rains during the early part of May caused flooding of many creeks and rivers.
