Event narrative

Snow began during the early morning hours of the 13th, and continued through the day. By evening, between 5.0 and 7.0 inches of snow fell across the area. The snow continued during the overnight hours into the 14th, and lasted much of the day before ending during the evening hours. By the end of the storm, snowfall totals averaged around 10.0 inches across the area. A newspaper article reported that in Jackson Township an indoor sports arena had its bubble-like roof collapse due to the snow early Wednesday morning. No injuries occurred from the collapsing roof, but structural damage was extensive and closed the area.

Wider weather episode

During the overnight hours into the 13th, an area of low pressure developed over Texas. This area of low pressure tracked northeast through the Tennessee Valley during the 13th, and then over the central Appalachians during the 14th. Strong winds and heavy snow accompanied this area of low pressure. The snow finally ended across the region during the evening and overnight hours of the 14th into the 15th.
