Event narrative

Four adults aboard a 15 foot motorboat were thrown into the Indian River, near the Max Brewer Bridge in Titusville when their boat capsized during a strong thunderstorm. Two adults died and two were unharmed. The boaters were initially on a small island in the river attending a family gathering and attempted to flee to the mainland as the storm approached. A weather spotter north of the area estimated 45 to 50 mph in the storm and USAF observations nearby recorded 45 to 47 mph wind gusts.

Wider weather episode

Two adults died after their 15 foot boat capsized on the Indian River during a strong thunderstorm. Two other adults onboard were unharmed, although all four were thrown into the water. None of the boat occupants were wearing life jackets.
