Event narrative

Sixty to 80 mph wind gusts swept across all of Douglas County causing widespread damage to trees, outbuildings, and power poles. Several shops, barns, and other farm related outbuildings were destroyed across the county. In Ava, damage mainly consisted of a few roofs that had minor damage. Communities within the county that were impacted the greatest include Pansy, Goodhope, and Redbank.

Wider weather episode

An intense squall line impacted extreme southeast Kansas and the Missouri Ozarks with mainly damaging winds. However, 19 tornadoes along with large hail was also observed. Due to the straight line nature of the winds, damage was widespread and intense.
