Event narrative

A fire crew 4 miles north of Fourmile lake reported 3-4 inches of rain, quarter size hail, and very little wind.

Wider weather episode

Southerly winds aloft ahead of an offshore cutoff low advected monsoonal moisture over the area. Short waves spinning around the low and a deformation zone aloft contributed to the development of numerous afternoon and evening thunderstorms, a number of which contained large hail and strong winds.
