A waterspout was observed by personnel at the U.S. Naval Air Station Key West air traffic control tower about 1 mile northeast of Boca Chica Key.

Scattered thunderstorms in the nearshore waters surrounding the Lower Florida Keys produced gale force wind gusts and a waterspout.
